4th/5th grade basketball league tryouts are this Tuesday and Thursday from 2:35 to 4:00. Students must have a C average in order to participate.
Math tutoring continues this week on Wednesday ONLY from 2:35 to 3:30. All students are welcome to participate in math tutoring. Students who do not go to Project Share must be picked up at school at 3:30 p.m. Several students who did not do well on the Topic 10 math assessment should stay. I have contacted their parents.
School Holidays are coming up! The next two Mondays (February 13th and February 20th) are school holidays in honor of Presidents Lincoln and Washington’s birthdays.
Class Valentine’s Day Party will be Tuesday, February 14th at 1:45 p.m. A class list of students’ names is going home today. If your child is giving Valentines, please make sure that they include ALL students in the class.
Six Flags “Read To Succeed!” Just a reminder that “Read To Succeed” reading logs are due on February 29th.
Curriculum News for this week! This week’s selection is titled “Yang the Second and Her Secret Admirers.” The comprehension skill is “Cause and Effect.” The spelling words for the week are “words that end in “ed” and “ing.” In math we continue with Topic 11 “Adding and Subtracting Fractions.” In social studies students will begin Unit 4 “Life in the Colonies.” Students will be learning the twelve “Southern states” the next two weeks. Students are responsible for knowing all 50 states and capitals. In science we will continue with our Life Science Unit on “Structure of Living Things.”
